USFS Gateway Information Center

The San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders work closely in cooperation with the United States Forest Service which needs volunteer assistance restoring hiking trails in the aftermath of the Station Fire and Curve Fire. The United States Forest Service greatly appreciates whatever time you might be able to spare restoring forest trails through the entire Angeles National Forest.

To see what it takes to volunteer click HERE for the "How To Do It" information. That web page will provide all the information you need to get involved in the restoration effort.

To volunteer to work on trail building and maintenance projects within the San Gabriel River Ranger District, contact the San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders. The organization meets on alternate week ends (the first, third, and fifth weekend of every month) in Azusa at the U. S. Forest Service Gateway Information Center located at the base of the mountain on the right hand side of Highway 39 next to a large water tank (see photograph to the right) at Mile Post 17.

When trail volunteer work is done a link is usually provided on this web page which offers write-ups and photographs of the work to show some of the typical trail building and restoration activities which take place in the Angeles National Forest.

The links provided below are given in reverse order so that the newest bit of volunteer work gets listed first. Unfortunately a lot of the great volunteer work that gets done never gets written up and documented like this however the Crystal Lake web site attempts to document as much of the volunteer efforts as possible.
